Recruiting and supporting young talent at Elite Leisure Collection

Receptionist on the Telephone

When the Elite Leisure Collection was formed in 2008, we knew investing in young and upcoming talent was pivotal to our success, and as school leavers across the UK are now considering the first important step in their career journey, now couldn’t be a better time to share with you our commitment to investing in the next generation.

Youth unemployment is a growing problem here in the UK which is why we have made it our priority to give young people the opportunity to build a long-term career in an industry they love. Through exciting apprenticeship schemes, graduate programmes, and the development of passionate individuals, our workforce has gone from strength to strength. And we’re not alone! Did you know almost half (47%) of organisations that employ students and graduates say that they intend to increase the number of hires they make in the next 12 months? The foundations of success

Here at Elite Leisure Collection, our employees are the foundation of our success, and this is a shared value amongst all four brands of the group. (One Warwick Park Hotel, Salomons Estate, Bewl Water, and One Media UK Ltd) But with success comes investment and dedication, which is why we are continuously looking for opportunities to develop our workforce in every way possible. A route we have found successful for ourselves, and employees has been apprenticeships.

Jess Porter, our fantastic digital marketing apprentice started her journey with us in August 2021 where she began to build her portfolio. With hands on experience, onsite lessons and dedicated study time, Jess has acquired valuable skills and real-world experience along with wrap-around support in further education – something we truly value and therefore will always be accommodating towards.

We spoke to Jess about her apprenticeship journey so far, and here’s what she had to say:

‘When I first looked into a career in digital marketing, I was focused on social media but working at ELC has given me the opportunity to explore all areas. The real-world experience I’ve gained has opened my eyes to an industry I love, and with the skills I’ve learnt I can’t wait for a long and happy career here.’

Jess is four months away from obtaining her qualification and is set to receive a full-time position within the marketing department upon passing her exams.

Endless possibilities

It goes without saying that career growth is important. It’s how you learn, take on more responsibility, and earn a higher salary, and development is something we actively encourage.

Terry Antoine, our previous food and beverage supervisor was looking for a new opportunity but loved the company and wanted to remain an employee. (A problem I’m sure many can relate to) With the help of our apprenticeship scheme, Terry has now successfully enrolled onto a course within our IT department – a transfer we knew he’d excel in! This new and exciting career has given Terry a new lease of life as he embarks on a journey learning invaluable skills that will open new doors and allow him to grow.
